"Move Week" Two

The movers, five of them, and two trucks arrived on Tuesday. After looking at the driveway and the property they decided to ferry the contents of the truck from a parking lot to our home. The first day they ferried from the boat ramp parking lot. On Wednesday the remaining three movers ferried from the hotel parking lot. By the time they finished unloading all our stuff on two of the hottest days this summer they were ready to leave!

When we arrived in SD

we drove past our new home, the previous owners were still loading trucks, parked one vehicle in the boat ramp parking lot and continued on to our closing. After the closing, we stopped at the grocery store to pick up frozen pizzas for supper and Dairy Queen to pick up Dilly Bars for dessert. When we arrived at our new home we found this welcome chalk note from the girls who had lived here!

"Move Week" Two

When we arrived home Sunday night a crew came over from church to clean our house. What a blessing they were! Monday morning bright and early we completed our part of the house closing, loaded the tucks and trailers and headed to SD. Note: Both trucks are hooked to a trailer, I pulled (for the first time ever) the small utility trailer.

My where to stay and babysitting questions

Linn-Mar High School Class of 1985

Lunch Break

This summer is our 25th High School Reunion. R moved to Vestal, NY just before our senior year. I saw him play baseball over the summer with a brother of one of my friends. When school started he dated one of my friends. Sometime in the spring of our senior year we both tried out for the Senior Class Play and played parts opposite each other. We went to our Senior Prom together and the rest is history : ) The reunion is 11 days after we close on both houses, half a county away, needless to say we aren't going. However, a couple of weeks ago R decided to find out if his class in Cedar Rapids, IA was having a reunion. They were and we are going. The movers have packed, loaded and removed everything from our MN home, the boys are at Scout Camp and we have nothing else to do (other than clean a house, find a kennel for the dogs, a place to stay in IA and a babysitter while we are there. . .) We went through Charles City, IA and stopped for a yummy lunch at this bistro where our Pastor's son is a cook. He wasn't working that day but we still enjoyed our meal.

On Friday of "Move Week"

we took a break from cleaning to meet the B family at the park. They were on their way back into town having vacated their home for some construction work. It was bittersweet, sweet to visit, bitter to realize it will be a little while before we get together again.

Our Women's Fellowship

had a covered dish dinner Thursday night of "Move Week". Thank you ladies for being such good and Godly friends! Miss you!

M leaves at O' Dark Thirty

on Thursday of "Move Week" with Troop 25 for Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Have a great trek! See you in South Dakota!

Packing Part 2

The Packing Part 1

Tuesday morning

of "Move Week" the girls participated in a Historical Society program, "A Day at the 1880 School House."
Mathilda and Henrietta even carried their lunch in a basket and ate under the trees at our county fairgrounds.

The movers arrived on Tuesday

of "Move Week". They packed and loaded Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. When they finally pulled out on Thursday evening they had filled the semi and partially filled the straight truck. S has decided she'd like to be a professional mover when she grows up and I got my share of exercise keeping C out of the way of the movers. Between the dollies, ladders, ramps and trucks he was enthralled!

Leaving Our Mark

The R family had us over for supper on Monday night of "Move Week". They have hosted various groups over the years, from foreign exchange students to home school groups to Bible studies. Many of those guests, who soon become family, have written their name on the wall (or ceiling) of the main floor bathroom. Although we had visited their home on several occasions over the past (almost) three years we had never painted our names. Tonight we did! Thank you for dinner, but more importantly, thank you for your friendship!

M and His Lashing

As part of his Pioneering Merit Badge M had to make a model of a lashing project.

Tea Party

The girls enjoyed a lovely tea at their friend C's home. Thank you C and Mrs. D for your warm hospitality.

After a day of fun on the lake

we enjoyed a picnic.

M waits his turn to tube!

R drives, H is lookout, while

friend D takes a turn waterskiing.

H tries to waterski too!

And she's up for a short time too.
