A friend

stopped by last night and joined us for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Snow Fence

This fence was left in the garage, and after talking to some neighbors and friends and studying the fences on nearby properties the boys put ours up.

Can you see the ice on the lake?

It didn't last, the sun and the warmth of the day melted it.

H enjoyed a cake decorating class,

and we enjoyed the cake!

Scenes from the Sioux Falls Airport

Joe Foss, a congressional medal of honor pilot in World War II and later a governor of SD. The snow covered car was coming from Minnesota. How many states have bison on the walls of the airport?

Sunset

We are beginning to see

some geese.

Manmade, but beautiful in its own way. . .

Music Class

One of the home school groups we belong to has some classes every other week. C and S are in music together while H has art. Then they switch, H goes to music, S to art and C to preschool. M is in South Dakota History and Geography. Because of his work schedule this fall K did not participate but there are classes for high schoolers, too.

Brookings and Lake Counties Veterans' Memorials

American Heritage Girls

I've got to sew on their badges, they remind me of Camp Fire Girls.

The Veterans' Hospital

The girls

went with their American Heritage Girls' Troop to the Veterans' Hospital.

Veteran's Memorial Park

Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Frost at Sunrise

Happy 8th Birthday S!

Before the snow flies,

we moved the garden things to the shed, and put away the hoses and garden decorations.

This house

was moved from town out here several years ago. When they moved it out here they decided to change the orientation of the house. I'm so glad they did! The front door faces the grove with glimpses of a slough. To the left and right of the front door are living room windows. On the second story is a master bedroom window and a window in C's room. The new orientation takes advantage of the lake view which can be seen from the living room, dining room, kitchen, master bedroom and the girls' bedroom.
