Canada Geese and Spring Peepers

We are enjoying some of the sounds of spring.

More of Monday Afternoon

Monday Afternoon

Fred and Ethel

We've nicknamed the Canada goose couple that spends time on our slough Fred and Ethel. They've come every spring and every spring we hope they'll nest. Eventually they move on. We're enjoying them while they are here.

Easter Packages

Thank you Gramma and Grampa J for the yummy candy. Thank you Gramma and Grampa A for the candy, jokes and tractor! It was great fun to open the packages!

Wild Turkeys

Monday morning as I finished packing Daddy's car for the work week in SD and shut the door I heard an odd noise, it didn't sound like a pheasant, more like a turkey but I didn't have any turkeys in the barn. Oh well, perhaps a young pheasant or a couple of them fighting over a hen. I went into the house and peeled a grapefruit and as I was walking by the kitchen window I glanced out to see a rafter of wild turkeys. They walked across the yard, crossed the driveway and wandered down the front field toward the road, we woke the children, took pictures and Daddy used the turkey call. They crossed the road and then came back when Daddy called to them. After a bit they meandered through the State land across the road. We surmised that the flooding along the rivers has driven them up out of the river bottoms.

Egg Find

Egg Hunt

Just a side note, the boys all had on khakis for church. When they got home they changed into jeans or PJ pants.

Helping Daddy

check to see if the Easter Bunny had finished hiding the eggs.

Broody Hen

One of my Rhode Island Red hens has gotten broody. On Saturday we cleaned the chicken coop. The first thing I did was usher all the birds outside. Then I shut the door. Then I heard the soft clucking of a hen. I had to get out the ladder to find her. See the bulge in the blue tarp? That is where she is nesting. What is she planning to do when they hatch? They will not be Wood Ducks.

Happy Resurrection Day!

He is risen! He is risen indeed!

April Fool's Day

I made "fried eggs" again for breakfast. This year they were made from fluff and lemon pudding. But, unlike the last two April firsts that we've lived in MN, this year we had no snow flurries and no snow left for sledding!

Palm Sunday Music

H and S sang along with their Sunday School class. M had a speaking part between songs and all three took part in the Palm Sunday drama, just music and dancing, no speaking.

One of my favorite signs of spring,

the first robin!

Great Report Cards from the Dentist

No cavities! No plaque! and Best of all, cooperative patients! C had his first dentist visit today! He climbed right into the chair for the hygienist and let her "count" his teeth. There were a few tears when the dentist checked his teeth, but he was real proud of his new toothbrush and floss!

The Sap Moon

March's full moon is sometimes called the sap moon because it marks the time when maple sap begins to flow and the annual tapping of the trees begins.

A New Door

Some days Daddy is able to work from home, in order to help him hear while he is on the phone and to help us all focus on our work we added a door to the parlor.
