December 9th

We made maple syrup cream with fresh snow from our blizzard*. Less than one week ago we were swimming in the ocean! Everyone always asks me how much snow did you get? It is very hard to measure out here on the prairie because we have spots that are bare and then drifts that are two feet high or more. And then, if the wind keeps blowing it all rearranges itself rather frequently.

*The National Weather Service defines a blizzard as a storm with sustained winds or frequent gusts reaching or exceeding 35mph, visibility of 1/4 mile or less due to blowing snow lasting for three hours or more.
