Going to a Living Nativity

is one of our family's favorite CHRISTmas activities. My pictures are bad as I chose not to use a flash and interrupt the actors and actresses. An angel spoke to Mary and then appeared to Joseph. Mary rode a donkey led by Joseph to a manger where Jesus was portrayed by a darling little girl with a pink pacifier. Angels appeared to shepherds keeping their sheep and ponies. Wise men walked because the camels had been booked at another living nativity(and we all know there is not a plethora of camels in the upper midwest!) It was cold, dark and well, messy. (I love how a barn smells of hay, wood shavings and animals but, manure smells and in a barn or stable or field or cave with animals there is going to be manure.) A good reminder that God chose to send His son into our cold, dark, messy lives to bring His light and love.
