Fort Alexandria

is a nearly exact replica of the old stockade which was built in 1862 by the order of the Governor of Minnesota. The fort was built as a show of security as the pioneers returned to this area after the Dakota Conflict of 1862. The fort was the center of social and commercial activity for the area. There was a general store, log cabin, school and a church.
