We are headed to Kansas to visit the T family whom we have known for about 10 years now. When we both lived in NC we would see each other almost once a week, now we have to email, write, call and squeeze all our visiting in one or two trips a year. We stopped for lunch, a history lesson and a swim at Lewis and Clark State Park in Iowa. Blue Lake is an oxbow formed by the meanderings of the Missouri River many years ago. In August of 1804 the Lewis and Clark Expedition camped at what is now the State Park. We saw the full size reproduction of Lewis and Clark's keelboat/barge, "Best Friend". We tried to imagine what it would have been like to wind our way up the Missouri River sailing, pulling, and poling the 55 foot boat.
